Jamison turns 3 months old (in the hospital unfortunately)

Jamison turned 3 months old this week. Unfortunately, she spent it in the hospital as she had an infection. The doctors admitted her due to her age and wanted to be cautious and take preventive measures. How did we end up in the hospital? Jamison had not been feeling well for two days. We ended up in the ER after an after-hours doctor checked Jamison out. She was being cautious in sending us, but evidently for good reason. She was concerned that Jamison was lethargic, eating less than usual, being fussy, and was mildly dehydrated and thought the ER could run tests to find out why.

This photo was taken on my phone in the ER. Once the pediatric nurse saw her, she rushed her back to a room since she looked so tired and pale. This picture was taken after she had been significantly poked and prodded. All of the crying she did meant she was no longer sleepy. In the ER, she was given an IV for dehydration (we hope that she doesn't need one again) and had blood and urine taken for tests. She also had a lumbar puncture done to check for menigitis (after this photo as she was not a happy camper once that procedure was done).

Before we left the ER, the doctors had discovered Jamison had an infection and started antibiotics. Despite being a long night with very little sleep, she was feeling better the next morning. She spent a lot of time lounging around and sleeping.

She even got in some tummy time on the 2nd day once it was clear she was closer to normal.

Jamison week 13

This week Jamison had a lot of fun playing. Her fingers / hands seem to interest her quite a bit -- probably because she can finally get them into her mouth consistently. We will keep our fingers crossed that she does not become a thumb sucker.

We began to introduce toys to her this week. She would hold them for a bit and had fun staring at them while we held them.

Jamison had fun spending time with Jessica. They watched Mickey Mouse together while doing tummy time. Jessica was a good big sister as she showed Jamison how it was done.

Practicing with her sister must have worked as Jamison tolerated tummy time a bit more this week.

We also brought out the activity center for Jamison this week. She's a bit too small for it (we prop her up on a pile of towels) and doesn't play with the toys just yet, but since she likes to stand, we figured that she would enjoy it in short spurts for right now. She does seem to like it for short periods of time and Jessica likes to share the toys with Jamison.

The biggest part of the week was when Jamison moved from her bassinet in mommy and daddy's room to her own crib in her own room. This was not a big deal at all for Jamison. She fell asleep just like normal. Mommy had a much harder time with the move however!

Jessica's dance class

Jessica enjoyed her summer ballet / tap / tumbling class so much that she is continuing it throughout the rest of the year. She has gone a few weeks now. The class starts out by having the girls prance around. Jessica loves this part. She is a natural at prancing.

Then, the teachers gather all the girls together in a circle to practice various skills.

They do point and flex of the toes. Jessica is usually not thrilled with this part of the class. Too easy I guess.

And, then they practice certain ballet positions.

At the end of the class, they get to do a free dance. This week Jessica got to play with scarves.

Jessica loves her dogs

Jessica loves her dogs Duke and Mousse. She really likes to cuddle with them. Here are a few photos I got of her with them recently.

a trip to the zoo

A few weekends ago, Jessica went to the zoo with her friends Isabella and Ben.

Jessica and Isabella had fun playing on the hippo statue.

They turned it into a slide.

Jamison week 12

Jamison had another fun week. She spent lots of time practicing her sitting -- both in her Bumbo and on the couch.

Eventually, sitting tires her out. Here she is taking a break. Her hand sure must be yummy.

She did a little bit of tummy time this week. She still doesn't like it all that much.

When she is stretched out, she prefers to lay on her back.

She did get to try out some new toys that we brought down from the attic. Even though Jamison isn't playing with or using toys, Jessica still likes to share them and then show her how to use them. While Jamison enjoys the music and flashing lights, she is more mesmerized by her sister than anything else.

Finally, Jamison's new trick this week is sleeping on her side.

this is what happens when Dad is in charge

Last night, I had to go into Jessica's school for a meeting. Jim was left with both girls. Evidently, Jessica entertained herself with stickers. This was the result.

The book of 1200 stickers doesn't last that long when your child does this. And, we will probably be finding stickers for months scattered across the house.

Jessica starts big girl preschool

Jessica has started her second preschool, which we refer to as big girl preschool. Her friend Isabella is also going as well. Here is a photo of Jessica and Isabella before the first day of school in ELC Room A.

We got there a bit early and Jessica had time to play before school started. She played with the treasure chest and gave Carl (the dog statue) some necklaces to wear. And, she also rode a tricycle in the yard.

Jamison's bigger girl bath

Jamison finally had to move to the baby bathtub as she no longer fit on her baby sponge. WIth this change, Jessica has decided to get involved in bathtime. She now is a helper and washes Jamison's tummy and feet before heading to her own bath.

Jamison week 11

Jamison had quite a busy week. She really enjoyed her bouncy seat. Can you tell by the smile on her face?

I suppose we should thank Benjamin H. for recommending it and giving it to us. It is the go to activity when showers need to be taken, dishes washed, dinner eaten, etc. We think Jamison is interacting with it much more by hitting and kicking the hanging toys. We say she is doing it on purpose rather than accident. Who knows. You can decide for yourself.

Unfortunately, Jamison is really not liking tummy time anymore. I have no idea what happened to that small baby that would sleep on her tummy. She just doesn't exist anymore. I've taken a different tactic with tummy time and brought out the wedge so she is on an incline. This didn't really help and all she tries to do is to scoot down the wedge.

The only saving grace of tummy time is that it puts her hand in easy reach. She loves to suck her hand and does it quite loudly in fact.

This was also the week of kiss attacks. She was "lovingly" kissed by Duke, Jessica, and Mousse.

Mousse isn't just kisses and licks. He is also a great cuddler. He and Jamison like to sit on the couch together and relax.

Jamison also likes to sit in the Bumbo.

And, she also enjoys propping herself on mommy's and daddy's bed. It doesn't usually last long, as she usually face plants into the bed pretty quickly, but it still is fun.

I'm starting to read to Jamison more now. She really seems to enjoy books like her big sister Jessica. So, when the girls and I let Jim sleep in on Sunday, we decided to cuddle together in Jessica's bed and read books.

Jamison also likes spending time on her activity mat. She is really getting curious about all the things on the mat.

And, when she gets fussy, she likes to dance with her daddy.

This week sure was busy. Luckily, Jamison is a good napper.

Jessica (3 years) and Jamison (2 months) Photo Shoot

A few weekends ago, we took some photos of the girls. Jessica enjoyed holding Jamison.

This is one of Jessica's most favorite poses these days. It screams "I am mad at you". We most likely told her not to do something.

''

And, here is a happier girl.

She was ready again to pose with her sister (and Jamison had stopped screaming too).

And, here are some cute photos of Jamison.

Jamison weeks 9 and 10

For parts of both week 9 and 10 of Jamison's life, we were in Sedona, Arizona. She spent a good portion of time in her car seat, stroller, and Baby Bjorn as we toured Sedona and surrounding areas, so there aren't too many pictures individual pictures of Jamison.

Once we got home from Sedona, however, she was back to more of the same. She's really taken to her bouncy seat and spends long stretches in it.

She's also getting lots of attention (aka attacks) from her big sister Jessica.

A Trip to the Children's Museum

This past weekend, Jessica went to the Children's Museum with her friends Leilani and Luke. They played on the firetruck and posed as firemen (for some reason Dancing Queen comes to mind).

The museum has a Bob the Builder exhibit now. Jessica and Leilani posed with Bob.

Jessica pretended to be Bob too as she tried to fix a broken sink pipe.

Jessica and Leilani raided Bob's flower garden.

All the kids had fun in the art room. Jessica, Leilani, and Luke played with play-dough while Jamison took a nice long nap.
