Jim was spent a good portion of the weekend at a Lego convention, so the girls and I had a movie night in on Saturday evening.  At first, Jessica and Duke were the only ones interested in cuddling on the couch during the movie.

Squishy and Jamison were quick to follow however.

Jamison loves to do the hair on her dolls, horses, and people.  At school last week, she pretended to cut her teacher's hair.

camping at Mt. Diablo

Recently, we went camping at Mt. Diablo with some 1st grade friends from school.  Jessica and her friend Isabella were excited to collect sticks for smores.

After we packed up our camp, we headed to the top of Mt. Diablo.  The photo is by Jessica.  She loves to take my phone and take pictures these days.

Jessica and Jamison were invited by one of Jamison's friends to go and get their nails done last weekend.   This was Jamison's first time and she was so excited.  She chose red nail polish for her toes and they painted little pandas on them for her.

Meanwhile, Jessica enjoyed the massage chair.

getting ready for a camping trip

Last week, Jessica and Jamison had fun getting ready for our camping trip to Mt. Diablo.  Jessica was very excited that her American Girl, Saige, would finally get to come camping with us.  While I was still at work, she packed all of the things that Saige would need while camping.

When I asked Jessica what was all the stuff, she assured me that the Jeep was not coming. That was just to move the bags to the front of the house.  She then went on to explain how Saige needed multiple outfits for a fashion show and lots of food so she did not get hungry.

Meanwhile, Jamison had fun test driving her new sleeping bag.

The Lego store recently had an event where kids could build a Friends Lego box.  Jim took Jessica and Jamison.  Here are the girls building the box.  Jamison had a bit of help from her daddy, while Jessica was able to do it all on her own.

Afterwards, when we asked Jamison if she liked building Legos, this was her response.

We think she liked it.

Aurora's 7th Birthday Party

Jessica and Jamison had a great time at Aurora's 7th birthday party at a local gymnastics center.

a Saturday morning at Great America

A few weeks ago, we went to Great America with some of our friends.  While Jessica rode big girls rides with her Daddy, Jamison loved riding the sky ride with her friend Luke.

She also enjoyed the rides in Kidsville.

In Kidsville, she really liked riding the airplane ride with Maleia.

Jessica's 6th Birthday Party

For Jessica's 6th birthday party, she wanted to get dressed up and do a fashion show.  So, we had a party at Snip-Its where everyone got their hair and nails done, picked a favorite costume, and strutted their stuff on the runway.

As the birthday girl, Jessica was first up and chose a Princess hairstyle.

While some kids had their hair done, others worked on a craft project or got their nails and lipstick done.

Here is Jessica with her lipstick carefully applied.

Jamison, on the other hand, took the lipstick and was not so careful with it.  She nearly painted her entire face.

Jamison loved getting her nails done.

And, when it was her turn to get her hair done, Jamison also chose the princess hairstyle like her big sister.

After choosing dresses, Jessica and Jamison walked down the red carpet together.

After the red carpet, it was time for cake.  Jessica's daddy made her a My Little Pony cake. She wanted a very specific image on it.

Since Jessica's birthday party was on her birthday, we decided to let her open presents from us a day early so that the excitement of new stuff could be spread out a bit.  Our presents were all things for her American Girl dolls and then new costumes (as she has outgrown most of her old ones).

Jessica was really excited about all the gadgets and accessories she got for her American Girl dolls.

Every American Girl needs a tent and Jeep to go camping in right?

Jessica is such a nice big sister that she even let Jamison open a gift.  

She was also super excited to get a Cinderella wedding dress.  She plays bride all the time now.  When I ask her who she is marrying, she laughs and tell me it is all just pretend.  Thank goodness!

a trip to Gilroy Gardens

A few weeks ago, we went to Gilroy Gardens with some friends.  Jessica enjoyed riding on the strawberry ride all by herself.

Both girls loved the spinning cups.

Jamison thought driving the car was fun.  Jessica evidently has outgrown this type of ride and refused to go.

Jamison and her friend Ellie rode the firetruck together.

It was hot enough that the girls enjoyed splashing in the sprinklers for a bit.

Here are a few photos of Jamison playing at school this summer.  She loves to paint.  We seem to get a new masterpiece each day.

just a normal day at our house

A normal day at our house involves lots of dolls on the floor as the girls like to mix and match in their play.  Sometimes, Jamison likes to mix Barbies with Lalaloopsy dolls.  Unfortunately, this time I was trapped on the couch as she played.

Jamison and Jessica love going to movies now.  When they went to see Despicable Me 2, they dress up as minions!
