fun at the zoo with Leilani

This past weekend, Jessica and her friend Leilani went to the zoo together. Jessica's favorite activity was once again feeding the goats. She wanted more and more food to give them. At least, she likes to pass it around to multiple goats.

Jessica and Jim also had fun playing with the spiders. Jessica spent a good portion of that time singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider".

bubbles!

Jessica had such a good time with the bubble wands at Elliott's party on Sunday that we spent more time playing with them at home that evening. Jessica loved chasing the bubbles that we all made.

fun at Elliott's birthday party

Jessica had a really good time playing at the park this weekend during Elliott's birthday party.

Jessica picks berries

This weekend, we took Jessica to pick berries at one of the local farms. She seemed to like to pick the non-ripe blackberries, which were "stuck" according to her as they didn't come off the vine easily. In the end, she seemed much more interested in the horses.

Jessica counts!

Over the past few months, Jessica has gotten much better with her numbers. She can easily recite her numbers from 1-10 now and likes to practice. She has also tried to physically count objects, but she isn't quite getting it right just yet.

cooling off during the hot evening

This weekend was extremely warm and Jessica enjoyed playing in her pool to cool off.

a potty training update

For a few months, Jessica has been sitting on her potty "practicing" before she gets her bath. The past few nights, she has successfully gone potty in her potty (to my surprise). Yay Jessica. We're not formally starting full on potty training yet, but are excited that she is interested in it so soon.

Jessica goes to music in the park with Isabella

Jessica had lots of fun going to music in the park tonight with her friend Isabella. She danced and played in the playground.

Father's Day playdate with Leilani

On Father's Day, Jessica's friend Leilani and her family came over for pizza and a playdate. The dads made homemade pizza while the girls played in the backyard and "swam" in the pool. Jessica had lots of fun playing and swimming.

Jessica makes her daddy pancakes for Father's Day

This morning, Jessica helped make her daddy pancakes for father's day.

cooking in the kitchen

Jessica still likes to cook in the kitchen. Yesterday, she wanted Duke to wear an apron too. He wasn't exactly willing, but did play along. This is one time that Mousse did not mind having to sit on his bed in the other room.

frilly tutu skirts and constructions hats definitely match

Jessica enjoys her swing and pool play date with Isabella

The girls had fun playing both outside and inside today.

Jessica tells me how it is

This is Jessica telling me how it is yesterday at the park. No, no, no when I tell her it is time to go home. Mommy, slide, tunnel now. Slide Dirty. Clean. Or somewhat along those lines. Loosely translated, she wants to keep playing at the park on the slide and tunnel. She doesn't want to go home. And, gosh, the slide is dirty, so can you please clean the sand off of it too mom.

off to school

Jessica went off to school wearing her crown and with a waffle in hand this morning. How could her morning be complete without them?

Jessica says today was an exhausting day

Today was just an exhausting day for Jessica. It included an early morning trip to urgent care with a scratched cornea and double ear infections and a fairly good sized accident on 101. Once we got back home after the accident, Jessica went down for a nap. I snapped this photo of her after she had woken up from her nap. She decided that she needed more rest and our bedroom floor was the perfect place. Who can blame her? I was tired too. Simply too much excitement for one day.

crunched on 101

Today was a fabulous Saturday. It started out with a trip to urgent care after Jessica, who had been reading books, started wailing and holding her eye shut tight screaming owwie. After about 20 minutes of this, we realized something could be wrong. Evidently, she scratched her cornea (with what we assume is a book page). About two hours after we got back from the doctors, we decided to head to Costco and our little adventure turned into a 2 hour ordeal as we got rear-ended on 101 while at a dead stop (the guy behind us was unable to stop). Luckily, no one was injured in the car accident. And, given how bad things could have been, the damage wasn't too bad on our end. As the fireman on the scene said, in this type of situation, the car with the most lug nuts wins. Thank you GX470 for being so beefy and tank like. Jessica didn't even make a peep when we were hit as the car only jolted slightly, and the worst thing Jim and I can think of was our cokes spilled inside the car, Here our some photos we snapped at the scene (for those who want to gawk). We sure had many gawkers starring us down as Jessica played on the side of the road. The fireman were nice enough to help us remove the dangling piece of rear bumper so we could drive the care home.

Jessica helps Mousse with his cone

Jessica tries to be a good helper. We were giving Mousse some time without his cone the other day and she saw it and wanted to put it on him. Check out this video.

Jessica expresses her inner artists -- Sleeping Beauty style

All of a sudden, Jessica loves to color with her markers. Of course, it has to be the Sleeping Beauty book. Thank god for the magic markers and paper. Otherwise, we would have marker everywhere by now.

Jessica loves Mousse's crate

Jessica likes to go in Mousse's crate. Jim and I like to snicker and wonder if we should close the door.

more dress up

Jessica was a trooper tonight as she modeled another item for her birthday party -- the glittery tiaras her dad picked up at the store. They look like they will be a go as she said she was "happy" after checking it out in the mirror (happy be her new word). She also kept it on for more than a minute, so I'm thinking it was a success. We were lucky to get her to participate at all in dress up today given that she has a 103 degree fever and spent most of the day on the sofa.

tutu on

Jessica modeled a tutu that I am making for the girls that are coming to her princess birthday party. The problem was that once she put it on, she didn't want to take it on. "Tutu on", said Jessica. "Off", said mommy. "No. Tutu on. My tutu", said Jessica. Sigh. Looks like I am making one more tutu for the party.
