Jamison week 38

Jamison spent a good portion of the week perfecting her crawling/scooting and trying to stand. She now moves about pretty quickly (or fast enough that if you turn your head she's completely moved into a different area). And, while she can't pull her self up to a standing position yet, she can get up on her knees to reach things.

She's discovered that being able to pull herself up onto things yield a whole new world of chew toys (including the edge of our coffee table).

If you help her up, she can stand for extended periods of time now and likes to hang out at her musical table.

This week, Jamison also enjoyed modeling new bunny jammies with Jessica from Mimi and Papa.

Jessica's Green Sheep Study Group at School -- studying the eyes

At Jessica's morning school, she is part of the green sheep study group. About five weeks ago, they started on a study of the eyes. It started with a discussion on what each of the kids knew about eyes. Then, they began studying their eyes in a mirror and noticed the differences (eye color) and similarities (pupil, eyelashes, etc.) with friends. Next, they drew their eyes as they looked into a mirror.

The next week the study group met, they worked more to understand the differences in eye colors that the group had. To help visualize this, they graphed eye color of all the children in the group.

In their current study of eyes, the study group also touched on the concept of blindness. To better understand this, they explored the notion of would they be able to travel to the door and back while wearing a blindfold. With touch and hearing (listening to their friends guide them), the kids were able to get to the door and back.

The next time the group met, the teachers were surprised that when the children were shown photos of each friend’s eyes only, they were able to identify each friend.

rainy day bowling and puddles

Since it was a rainy day today, we took Jessica bowling for the first time. She was so excited to be at the bowling alley. She loved getting bowling shoes and a 6 lb ball.

She tried bowling on her own and with a ramp to help her.

When she bowled with the ramp, she got her first strike!

She also got a spare later in the game.

She got a whopping 71 points.

Jamison enjoyed the game from her stroller.

On the way to the car, Jessica had fun playing in the puddles.

Jamison week 37

There were more big smiles from Jamison this week.

And, lots of vocal sounds too.

Recently, her favorite toy is a ball. Any size or color will do, but she really has a preference for the ones that come with her play house. You can usually find her playing with one if she is home.

Since she is crawling around now, Jamison has taken more of a interest in the animals. Mousse sure had her laughing the other night.

She also likes to stand at her walker, although she isn't walking with it yet.

And, Jamison loves bathtime too. She's been taking baths with Jessica for a while now and loves playing in all the water and with all of Jessica's toys. Jessica now asks for her bath every night so she can play with her sister!

a weekend trip to Happy Hollow

Last weekend, we took the girls to Happy Hollow for some rides and animals. Once we got there, it took us forever to get into the park because Jessica had to play with all of the statues at the park entrance.

She was so happy to be at the park and even happier when her daddy bought her a new pink hat.

Jamison, who modeled a faux-hawk that day, was a little less sure about this outing at first.

Of course, our first stop was the carousel. Jessica had a blast and Jamison also had a good time, even though Jim wasn't able to get any photos of her.

Jessica was very much into climbing on the different playgrounds while we were there.

And, she loved feeding the animals in the barn.

The most surprising thing about our trip, however, was that all of a sudden Jessica was extremely interested in riding the "scary" rides at the park. She wanted to go on the Frog Hopper all by herself. She loved it and did it many times.

And, she even went on the roller coaster with her daddy.

Meanwhile, Jamison had fun hanging out in her stroller.

Jessica and Jamison also rode the car ride together.

And, then Jessica went on the bug ride.

Jamison week 36

It was another happy week for Jamison. Once again, she was all smiles.

This week she spent more and more time standing.

And, she also spent a lot of time trying to crawl. We think that she really isn't into being on her knees because she tries to crawl while her knees are off of the ground. Jessica calls it the bear crawl.

For the rest of the time, Jamison enjoyed playing with all of her toys. She loved pounding on her piano.

And, as usual, the pieces of mail from her house made great chew toys.

She's also quite entertained by her pacifier.

Jessica and Jamison go to to Children's Museum

Last Sunday was a rainy day, so we took the girls to the Children's Museum. Jessica had fun driving the firetruck.

And, as usual, she had a great time in the Cinderella coach.

Then, she walked over the bridge that her daddy built.

And, she had a blast in the art studio painting and playing with shaving cream.

Meanwhile, Jamison began to explore the museum for the first time. In the toddler room, she was awed by the light carousel.

She also had lots of fun standing.

Jamison is finally moving

Well, after weeks of trying to figure out how to crawl, Jamison has finally been able to move around a bit. It's not elegant and I can't say whether it is crawling or scooting, but she is definitely moving now.

a day at the park

This morning, we took Jessica and Jamison to the park. Jessica started the day by hugging her favorite elephant statue.

Then, it was off to climb, climb, and climb some more.

Today, she was finally able to climb some of the rope pyramid.

While Jessica climbed, Jamison took a spin on the slide.

Before leaving the park, Jessica had fun jumping on some rocks.

Jamison week 35

These days, Jamison spends all of her time playing with her toys and also trying to crawl.

She's not quite crawling yet, but she's getting closer.

Right now, her favorite toys are those with flashing lights and sounds. She loves her little laptop (evidenced by the shaking legs).

Jessica and Jamison have also started playing together a bit.

Eliza's 4th birthday party

Jessica and Jamison went to Eliza's 4th birthday party this weekend. The party started out with the pass the parcel game, which is like hot potato, but everyone unwraps a prize.

While the girls played games, Jamison fought off sleep in her stroller. She eventually lost.

Then, it was lunch time. Jessica modeled a pair of sunglasses that she picked up at the table.

Some of the girls played "What time is it" after lunch.

Then, everyone listened to one of their favorite teachers, Miss Julia, read them a story.

Jamison woke up just in time for cake.

After cupcakes, Jessica was the big winner in musical chairs.
